Greetings!
If someone asked me, "what is your true passion in life?" I'd say without the slightest hesitation -- acting! The act of transforming into a character is both fulfilling and difficult. I think I serve people best as an actor performing on stage. A performance can help an audience see life or a particular event in history more clearly. Beyond that, as a performer I believe I help people feel different emotions, which take them away(even if for a moment) from the trials and tribulations of life that we all face.
I realize though acting is not the most consistent job in terms of pay and work. Thankfully for me I have another interest and passion. I have a strong interest in a career in higher education, particularly student affairs. My undergraduate career was nothing short of magical and this is thanks in part to the administrators whole helped guide me along the way. While in undergrad I thoroughly enjoyed my role as a resident assistant and president's aide; these positions permitted me to directly and indirectly impact change on my campus. A career in higher education would allow me to continue this work as an administrator. One of the most beautiful things I find about working in higher education is the fact that each year comes a new, eager and bright-eyed group of students to counsel and witness their growth over the years.
Finally a career in higher education is quite conducive to my passion for acting, in that, overall it requires little travel and once the clock strikes 5 PM, I am done for the day. The evening would be all mine. Ideally I would participate in community theater and have rehearsal to attend in the evening. That's what I call having my cake and eating it too!
Logan,
ReplyDeleteI really like how you have such a strong, inherent desire to give back to people-even ones you haven't met! I feel like it can be difficult to maintain that kind of genuine enthusiasm for bettering peoples' lives, and to be honest, I'm a little jealous of you. Also, your ability to empathize with people is an amazing quality to have in general, as well as in any professional field. Just being aware of the perspectives and emotions of the people with whom you work gives you an advantage to not only be successful within your profession, but to also contribute to people in ways that they actually care about.
I like that you are passionate about acting, and that is what you enjoy doing it. There is nothing better than do what you like and like what you do.! So keep up with those rehearsal and practices.
